Recently, the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation announced that we would be providing $2 million in relief funds specifically to organizations in New York state. We started off by making significant donations to New York health organizations and nonprofits we have partnerships with already. We knew that the road to recovery will be a long one, and we consciously made a decision to go big and provide $1 million to a single organization. We are pleased to announce that we have given a $1 million, our largest grant to this crisis, to the NYC COVID-19 Response & Impact Fund.

We realized that the best way to support a system and city as complex as New York City is through the NYC COVID-19 Response & Impact Fund. The Fund is administered by the New York Community Trust (NYCT), which is a grantmaking foundation dedicated to improving the lives of residents of New York City and its suburbs. It brings together individuals, families, philanthropies and businesses to build a better community and support nonprofits that make a difference. The NYCT has deep experience and connections in New York City and can help us ensure our significant contribution goes where it is most needed.

“With the pandemic suddenly and profoundly upending the lives of all New Yorkers, we are grateful that Delta Dental has joined our collective effort to rush aid to the city’s most vulnerable,” said Kerry McCarthy, vice president for philanthropic initiatives at the New York Community Trust.

The NYC COVID-19 Response & Impact Fund was created to aid nonprofit service providers struggling with the health and economic effects of COVID-19. The Fund has many donors from New York and across the country, including foundations, individuals and corporations. It gives grants and no-interest loans to NYC-based nonprofits that are working to meet the new and urgent needs currently hitting the city. Priority is given to nonprofits addressing essential healthcare and food insecurity as well as arts and culture. Our gift will help nonprofits in the human services area with a variety of needs, including protective equipment, cleaning supplies, technological assistance and support for financial losses.

Importantly, the NYCT is taking no administrative fee for this Fund, so our entire donation will go directly to nonprofits.

We are proud to be supporting the NYCT in helping the people of New York respond to and recover from the effects of the pandemic. We seek to build caring, resilient communities, and we believe our partnership with NYCT will help us do just that.
